GIGANTEA (GI) is a family of circadian genes, specific to plant species. It has been recognised almost in all the plant species. The GI plays important role in plant developmental and physiological processes that includes flowering time regulation, light signalling, hypocotyl elongation, sucrose signalling, starch accumulation, chlorophyll accumulation, transpiration, herbicide tolerance, cold tolerance, drought tolerance and others. Several experimental methods have been employed to to identify the GI proteins as well as to study the role of GI and GI orthologs in different plant species. Keeping in mind the importance of GI, we have developed this computtational tool "GIpred" for the prediction of GI proteins. The amino acid composition along with other physico-chemical properties (charge, instability index, iso-electric point and mass) have been used as features for the prediction using support vector machine algorithm. This server is believed to supplement the researchers working in the wet-lab with regard to the identification of GI proteins. The server has been trained with 137 GI (positive) and 8202 non-GI (negative) sequences, which is available in the "Dataset" section.
